This was an exercise from my class with watercolorist Shari Blaukopf. Working with one color will help you to recognize values easier before moving on to trickier color combinations. Edge work is also easier with the one color. Here, I used Peach Black from Holbein but a variety of colors that can be worked dark to light include: Indigo, Paynes Grey, Sepia and Burnt Sienna.
